Together we can make a difference

What does Necahual mean?

The word Necahual comes from the Nahuatl indigenous language of Central Mexico and means “left behind, survivor.”

"What does the Necahual Foundation do?"

As a non for profit organization the foundation aims to help children in need with new housing, education, recreations, social skills, nutrition, and self sufficiency. Our goal is to give meaning to the word Necahual by providing seed funds for social change and the necessary tools for these children to succeed in every day life!

"How involved are the committee members with the foundation?"

The founders, Sergio and Mary Suarez, visit a minimum of every 2 months, and all committee members visit at least once a year. They share time with the children, listening for suggestions on ways to improve their way of life.

Necahual’s committee members come from all walks of life, each with their own gifts and talents to help the foundation succeed in helping children in need.

Necahual’s accountant is also a member of the committee. She visits frequently, checks receipts, invoices, and most importantly speaks with the children, all in an effort to make sure that the money donated is spent on what it was meant for.

"When was Necahual founded?"

We founded Necahual in October of 2004.

"How do I sponsor a child?"

We are no longer accepting sponsorships for specific children. We have found the donation is used more efficiently when we can allocate it where it is most necessary for the children.

For general donations, we accept payments online through PayPal, or you can contact us.

"What does my donation provide?"

Your sponsorship provides a personal investment in the life of the children and is established to meet important social needs such as recreational outings, allowance, birthday surprises, sports involvement and equipment, housing, nutrition and self-sufficiency training opportunities.

"Is my donation tax deductible?"

Yes, your donation is tax deductible for US income tax purposes and receipts will be provided for donations over $250. If you make a smaller donation and require a receipt, we will provide one, upon request.

"Where is the shelter located?"

For the security of the children, we cannot provide the exact address of the shelter.

"How can I help the Necahual Foundation?"

We are always accepting donations, sponsorships for events, or volunteers

"Make a Donation"

We accept both monetary and non-monetary forms of donations.

You can become a corporate sponsor by donating items for our silent auction and $1 raffle that are held at our annual gala in December.

You may also donate through Paypal online.

If you have a Paypal account you can donate through your account.

"I don't have a PayPal account, can I still donate?"

Of course! If you would like to donate over the phone or with a check, please feel free to contact us.

"Are donations tax-deductible?"

Yes – Please remember that no donation is too small and all donations are 100% tax deductible under section 501(c)(3).

"What do my donations go toward?"

100% of your donation will go toward programs, and nothing goes to overhead. Donations go toward birthday celebrations, clothing, tutoring, sports, outings, and other events for the children.

"How do we purchase tickets for an event?"

You may purchase tickets through the Eventbrite website, where you can use any credit card to pay online here.

You can also call us to place your order over the phone. Our number is 708.410.1005.

"What does the money from your events go toward?"

The money raised during the event goes to the children of our foundation – this includes group outings, new clothes, shoes, recreational activities, classes and tutoring, self-sufficiency tools, birthday parties, and more.

We use 100% of all funds raised, from generous donors like yourself, to provide impactful programs and run our well-loved organization to help abused and neglected children stay on the path of life.

"What is included at the events?"

At our Annual Gala, we have a gourmet dinner, live music, open bar, silent auctions, and raffles, along with a special grand prize. It is a great night out, for a great cause.
