What does Necahual Foundation do?
Mary and I founded the Necahual Foundation in 2004, with the goal of providing the seeds for social change, and helping children get a second chance at life. We have been able to carry out these goals with the help of our Board Members and volunteer staff by focusing on three important areas: attention, prevention, and integration.
Attention » Providing a safe and secure environment for children without parents, or who had been left homeless. We provide clothing, shelter, education, and recreational activities. Prevention » The shelter has helped many children, but we realize that living in a shelter should also be a last resort, because of the long-lasting effects it has on the children. We have programs to educate and help prevent domestic violence, a major cause of family destruction. Integration » We offer after school programs. We partnered with school and park districts, and help sponsor the children so they can attend. This has also been helpful for immigrant families, and for parents who cannot be home when their child gets out of school.
We hope that you help us in continuing these programs and look forward to seeing you at our next event.
